This is a great story. I was getting a morning coffee Wednesday at a local Starbucks and happen to see a young women’s art and photography work on the wall while I was waiting. Her photos were matted and up for sale. She even offered her own line of cards. I thought, well that’s pretty cool. I love to see young people shooting great pictures and then also selling their work. In my opinion, putting your work out there and making a living from it is a difficult skill to master.
This deserves some encouragement. So I emailed PATHS (Portland Art and Technology High School) where Kristi attends. Diane, her dedicated teacher and accomplished bead artist in her own right, was happy to help. I showed up (with my husband Brian) Thursday to her high school and gave Kristi $100 for art supplies to help out her business— just a small gesture, but what fun!

Meeting Kristi, Diane, and the whole class (even a few scary little artists… hi guys!) was the most fun and I hope to be back at the school as a speaker or mentor soon.
Kristi will be selling her work at a special gallery event tonight. Go Kristie, Go!
