Caitlin and Patrick danced and celebrated at Foxstand Estate on a gorgeous September day in the Lake Sunapee/ Dartmouth New Hampshire area. Earlier, their families and friends gathered at St. Andrew’s in New London, NH nearby for a sentimental but fun church wedding. Relaxed and cool the entire day, the couple enjoyed cocktails overlooking the mountains, the fall foliage, and the crisp air of the natural setting. It was a really spectacular event. Their tented reception gave way to many magical moments and one strange moment too. You may need to see it to believe it! (I’ve shot well over 350 weddings and I’ve never seen this tradition before….) Take a look!

Caitlin and mom, Jean. I do this ‘snuggle’ with my own wee daughter so I just loved that they fell into this position during portraits.
Love this shot of Patrick and the guys getting that first glimpse of Caitlin!
Yellow flowers were brought to the altar by family and guest to honor family passed.

Sun sets on the cocktail hour. Signature drinks came in many colors and shapes for Caitlin and Patrick.
This was great! Friends put together a slideshow for Caitlin and Pat. It was projected high above on their sperry tent. Here I caught one of the funniest slides of the night— young Patrick, blond highlights— back in the day! Awesome!

OK here we go! Family brought a unique tradition along for Caitlin’s wedding…. so it’s called The “Screech-In” and it is a ceremony where non-Newfoundlanders or “come-from-aways” become honourary Newfoundlanders by drinking a shot of Screech rum, repeating some phrases in a Newfoundland dialect and kissing a cod. (Use of tongue is apparently optional here for this groomsman.) You could smell that tiny shot glass of Screech from across the tent…no joke, stong! But I’d guess need something strong if you kiss a cod. And ya know what, a ton of fine folk kissed that fish! (I did not.)
Caitlin’s mom Jean arranged fireworks as a surprise for the night. They were crazy beautiful and fun for the guests to see in the night sky. So fabulous!
Caitlin and Patrick, your wedding is a bounty of wonderful imagery but these images were quite unique! I had a fantastic time with you and your family on your wedding day. Thanks so much for making me feel at home! Can’t wait for you to see your whole event online! Get ready, there is a lot to see! With love, Beth :)
