Spruce Point Inn Resort & Spa: Maine wedding Kerri & Patrick 07.25.09

blog00141I’ve been waiting for Kerri & Patrick’s wedding for awhile now! You may remember them from the blog for their engagement session and super cool reception book. They are the best! Thanks guys for a fabulous day together!

When you combine great families, easy-going personalities, amazing attention to color and detail, a gorgeous bride Kerri—with really good taste, a killer location like Spruce Point Inn and the floral and event design PLUS  event coordination of Kate Martin of Beautiful Days (I bow down, seriously wonderful event work Kate!) the result is perfection. For me, it was a dream of a wedding!

Just look…. I can’t post enough images of this wedding!

Above: Kerri and Patrick (P.S. — also the kindest couple you could ever work with!) on the doc at the SPI. Love the dress!

Below pics: Teddy bears Princess & La La wait for the flowers girls to find them during the service. Kerri and Patrick say their I do’s. More super details — like grandma’s dress wraps Kerri’s bouquet, lime floating centerpieces by Beautiful Days, signature pomegranate martinis, floral with custom invites. Also, Kerri and Patrick happily wedded… Patrick has the best smile. My absolute favorite arty pic on the rocks. Love this shot! More cuteness with Kerri’s hot pink Kate Spade‘s and Patrick’s pink & brown argyle socks! Pink and green cake by Sweet Sensations with flowers and table custom grass card holder and floating candle centerpieces also by Beautiful Days. Plus couple gets grand entrance in to their reception. Kerri fights tears at her father’s toast. Girls give up some flower power. Blush reception book is a big hit! (yeah!) Kerri and Pat kiss at last dance…. what a fabulous night. Sigh. And last, guests light the couple’s way with a memorable sparkler exit.

**A special thanks to Blush associate & my very talented husband Brian. I am a blog-hog so most of these shots are mine but he captured amazing images and worked his tail off. (He shot the bears, cocktails and the gorgeous grand entrance photo below.)

Blair Hill Inn, Maine wedding: Kirsten and Ben 07.18.09

Kirsten and Ben were married Saturday at the Blair Hill Inn in Greenville, Maine at  Moosehead Lake. It is a gorgeous setting and a beautiful site for a very happy day.

The event started with tensions high. Sadly, Kirsten’s beloved grandfather passed away just days before the wedding. He was set to be honored with a special dance alone with Kirsten at the reception. It certainly took a toll on the bride’s family.

But in the spirit of love and in a wonderful celebration of his life, the event went forward. It  may have started out as a rainy day but ended in all smiles. Kirsten was lovely and gorgeous. Ben looked like one very happy man. The two families pulled off a beautiful event— bringing them all closer together.

Thanks Kirsten and Ben for sharing your day with me. I loved so many things about your event including your families, friends and the small details, like the stone wish circle at the ceremony and the happy sparkler exit. What a fantastic time we had on the dance floor too! Here are a few pictures as a sneak peak.

blush bling™ engagement session: Not-so-odd-couple, Whitney and Shane

blog1At first glance, Whitney and Shane are an odd couple. She’s a tiny dancer, quiet and super super sweet. Shane is technical, pre-med, louder and a bit rowdy! In front of a camera though, they just make sense! In some engagement images, Shane tucked Whitney under his arms and she just looked so very safe. In others shots, he squeezed her silly—making her face burst with laughter.

My joy in photographing couples comes from capturing how they fit together— going beyond that first glance and into their real connection. I hope that “spark” comes out in the work. Here, I love the connection in the first and third images and the color and comfort of the second and fourth.

Whitney and Shane — you make a fabulous match. Your chemistry together is great! (That usually adds up to a heck of a wedding day!) Wonderful job! I am so happy to be working with you on your July 2010 wedding event!

blush bonds family session: My Islanders

It is a special thing for a photographer to be invited back into a family’s life. Two years ago, I photographed Jane and Nate’s wedding on Little Diamond Island. And last Friday, I found myself on the family boat heading there again for a special blush bonds family session. My friends Nate and Jane have obviously settled into marriage life very well. Nate’s brother John brought his fiance, Melanie, to celebrate the Fourth on their Maine island. They’ll be married soon in Florida. Dodo and Paul, parents of this fabulous funky bunch, looked proud and happy to have both sons home with their two daughter-in-laws for the holiday. Dodo raves endlessly about her new daughters! (read on below)bloggies-32

bloggies-1Everyone was in the the spirit of the Island. There is a sacred Islander way of life, you know. I am not at liberty to reveal these ways— but I can say bare feet and alcohol are often involved. Our shoot was silly at times and a ton of fun. I made these casual arty family moments and some more traditional family shots too —that I just love. Great job to you guys!

I left reluctantly after a glass of wine with my friends. Sigh. Totally great afternoon! Dodo is that offer of adoption still on the table? Count me in!

Maine wedding: Jaclyn and David 06.27.09

maine2-04Jaclyn and David were married in Old Town, Maine this June. There is only one word to truly describe this event…. fun. (From the shots below you can see there was a healthy dose of ROWDY too!) From the couple’s youthful friends to the two extremely large happy families, this event was light and happy from start to finish. The service was beautiful, simple and traditional but the dance party was wild and crrrrrrazy. I’ve never seen “Shout!” done so well— and trust me, I’ve seen it a lot as a wedding photographer. Great job to family member, John, for the vocals and performance. Hysterical! A little bit softer now… A little bit softer now… A little bit softer now… Congrats to you both! Your lives will be full of as much love and laughter as your wedding day!maine1-01maine3-02
