These shots are absolutely awesome. As was your old-school rap music selection in the “preparation” room. I do have one observation in these pictures though… The MOH seems to actually be upset the shot’s gone while everyone else seems ready to puke…. I may be the rowdy groomsman, but I don’t have anything on that party animal!

I have an incredible pair of black Cole Haan loafers that I bought out of the sale bin at the Freeport outlet. They were wider than my normal size, but I loved them so (and the price was right) so I decided to buy the “wrong” size try them with insoles. Well, I think that’s the secret: the extra insole makes them so soft! They are the most comfortable pair of shoes I’ve ever owned, so much so that on my recent (nine-day) trip to Paris they were the only pair of shoes I took.

I’ve resoled them at least twice, trying to extend their life. I keep thinking “this is probably the last season I can wear these” but they keep hanging on. I’ll probably cry when I have to ditch them.

I wear black dress slacks from LL Bean, and I bought two tops from Talbots just before the season started. They both have a sweet roll neck/collar and button up the back, making them look a little dressy/festive. One is pastel pink and one is flowered in shades of black and grey. Neither is online at this point (I picked them up back in April!)

I got my shirts through Junonia (great source for larger sizes). I have a long and a short-sleeved scoop neck T for more casual shoots (and for cool vs. warm weather), and then a tailored blouse for dressier events. I had them embroidered with my logo at Maine Coast Marketing in Falmouth. I pair them with either a pair of black pants or a skirt.

I’m going to have to check out those shoes of yours. Definitely need something supportive and roomy when you’re on your feet all day and your feet start expanding!

When my husband and I bought our wedding set (platinum) in 2007/2008 the price of platinum was around $1300 an ounce and gold was around $750. Today, gold is up to $1250 an ounce and platinum is up to $1600!!

So gold? Celebrity influence or all people can afford?!

Magnificent Miss Maggie — belting out a tune to send her schoolmates off to kindergarten takes first prize! Ginga was not surprised. She and Denzel graduated Lincoln Center Fordham doing theater work after all. Maggie is just like EB and at a tender age, too. Pop Pop was only surprised that Maggie was content to be in the chorus and not doing a solo, OR leading the entire ensemble. Wait until next year, and look out Bernadette Peters the year after that. Brian and Beth rock on.

I have been a big girl my whole life and let me tell you the hardest thing I ever did was shop for a wedding dress. I went to a dress shop and tried on several then the associate saw me staring at the tag about to cry when I saw it was 2 sizes larger than most of my clothes. (Note: I had been dieting before the wedding and had lost about 40lbs. at this point) She asked me why I was upset and I confessed the size was much larger than I thought and it had me feeling miserable. That is when she reminded me that most dressmakers are operating in Euro sizes. Guess what girls if you are a 14 in the USA than you are a 16-18 in Euro size. Then she smiled and showed me a few others that flattered me in ways I needed and wala the perfect dress. It might be a larger size than I thought I needed but it made me look beautiful and that is all that really mattered. Don’t give the size on the dress any validation it won’t matter on your big day!!! Kudo’s to beth for giving great advice!!!

What’s most important–even if you are teeny, tiny– is to find a shape that flatters YOUR figure.

Different dress shapes accentuate (and minimize) different parts of a girl’s figure, and it’s really so important to go to a salon where the staff can analyze YOUR body type and direct you to the dress shape that makes you look your best.

Beth, you are amazing and I love reading your honest blog entries. I too was the tom-boy, but as the years progressed I found a little more to my womanly side. I am a Shootsac lover and I bought one this year (and yes, I got a cover for it; it’s yellow and I love it). But…you are 100% right. Do what makes you feel comfortable and love it. And hey, if I fall into the ocean shooting a wedding, I can always use it as a flotation device. ;-)

I totally support you on this one. The folks who sell Gray Market tend to be the shady ones. They will say ANYTHING to make you buy the wrong thing. I made this mistake once myself. Never again.

Not that I expect my Nikon gear to break within the warranty period, but it just pays to be safe.

Have you tried Pictureline.com ? Several times when my trusty New England camera seller hasn’t had what I needed, Pictureline came through for me.

I think points one through six couldn’t have been said better, though the pricing point is a little more tricky as it is so, so subjective and sadly (though understandably so), it is often the biggest factor in decision making. (A smoke break during the first dance- yikes! I barely take a bathroom break the entire wedding day :)

Our florist was Carrie Scribner at Dutch Bloemen Winkel (http://dutchbloemenwinkel.com/), and I could not have been happier with her – so sweet and crazy talented! She captured our idea so perfectly with very little explanation.
